The Shire of Mirani was a Local Government Area located in the North Queensland region of Queensland, Australia. The shire, administered from the town of Mirani, covered an area of 3,280.2 square kilometres (1,266.5 sq mi), and existed as a local government entity from 1916 until 2008, when it amalgamated with the City of Mackay and the Shire of Sarina to form the Mackay Region.
The shire was situated in the Pioneer Valley, and atop the Eungella Range, to the west of Mackay. The area's primary industry is sugar production

History
The Shire of Mirani was established from part of the Shire of Pioneer (Mackay) on 4 September 1913 under the Local Authorities Act 1902.
On 15 March 2008, under the Local Government (Reform Implementation) Act 2007 passed by the Parliament of Queensland on 10 August 2007, the Shire of Mirani merged with the City of Mackay and Shire of Sarina to form the Mackay Region.

Mirani (tribe)
Mirani (Urdu: ميرانی), (Sindhi: ميراڻي) from the Arabic Amir (أمير) Mir (مير) + -âni (انی), meaning "The Descendants of Mir" or "Amir", is a Sindhi tribe of Baloch origin, settled in Sindh, and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan as well as Tehran, Hormozgān, Kermān, Khūzestān, South Khorasan, Sistan and Baluchestan provinces of Iran. According to an old tradition, they are descendants of Amir Hamza, an uncle of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. They speak Sindhi, Balochi, Persian, Kurdish, and Arabic, depending on their country of origin and are found mainly in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq,Australia and Oman.
Mirani Shire Council
The Shire of Mirani was gazetted on September 4, 1913. George Johnson was the first Chairman of the Mirani Shire Council. Councillors were J.R. Smith, M.F. McMahon, P.J. Goldston, T. Hodgett, C.H. Webster and E. Hannan.
Pioneer Shire Clerk, Mr. Fred Clark acted as Shire Clerk until the appointment of Mr. George Morley. Discussions between the Pioneer and Mirani Shire Councils were being held from February 1914 and by June 1914, the Mirani Shire Council was meeting independently. In October 1915, the council met for the first time in the Oddfellows Hall (Shire Hall), Mirani.
